A full installation covers removal and disposal of the existing railing, new post-to-rim-joist blocking and post anchors, posts, top cap rail, bottom rail, and baluster or infill materials, all fastener hardware rated for exterior exposure, and a code-compliance check before and after the work is done. We coordinate the building-department inspection where required and walk it with the inspector.
Items that fall outside standard scope include deck framing repair, joist replacement, full deck resurfacing, permit fees shown as a separate line in the written estimate, and custom lighting or decorative post cap upgrades. By code, guard height on a residential deck must reach 42 inches where the walking surface is 30 inches or more above grade, baluster spacing must prevent passage of a 4-inch sphere, and the top rail must carry a 200-pound point load per IRC guard requirements. On stair sections, the graspable handrail runs a 1.25-inch to 2-inch diameter profile. Posts are anchored into solid blocking or structural framing, never surface-screwed to decking alone.
