Natick Permit Planning
Know What the Project Requires Before Work Begins
The Natick Building Department at 13 East Central Street administers the Massachusetts State Building Code and issues building, plumbing, gas, electrical, and sheet metal permits. Projects involving structural changes, additions, kitchen or bathroom remodeling, deck construction, and siding replacement generally require review and permitting before work begins. Certain project types also trigger review by additional departments: Conservation Commission sign-off is required when work is near wetlands, and pool installations require Board of Health approval before a building permit is issued.
Not every home improvement project requires a building permit. Certain finish work and smaller residential improvements are specifically listed as exempt under the State Building Code. Properties located within the John Eliot Historic District in South Natick or the Henry Wilson Historic District along West Central Street also require Historic District Commission approval before any exterior work begins, separate from the standard permit process.

Included in Project Planning
We manage the permit process on your behalf with the Natick Building Department at 13 East Central Street. If the scope of your project requires Conservation Commission review, Board of Health approval, or Historic District Commission sign-off, we identify that during project planning so you know exactly which departments are involved and how long approval is expected to take before work begins.
